Christine Feehan Portrait

About Christine

I am a Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Counselling Therapist, and a Home Safety & Equipment Consultant with 10+ years of experience spanning adult mental health, home care, and physical rehabilitation. My practice is unique in its ability to bridge the gap between psychological well-being and physical independence.

As part of the Mindful Rehab team, I assist adults in moving from survival mode to thriving through trauma-informed mental health therapy. Simultaneously, I provide private counselling services and comprehensive home safety assessment. Through these consults, I help navigate inner thoughts, feelings, and external challenges, as well as help navigate essential equipment funding (including AADL, NIHB, and Easter Seals) to ensure you or your loved ones maintain autonomy at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free consultation calls?
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. This provides an opportunity for us to connect over the phone, discuss your needs, and ensure my approach is the right fit for you before committing to a full session.
Can I use my health benefits or insurance to pay for therapy?
Yes! Because I hold dual credentials as a Registered Occupational Therapist and a Licensed Counselling Therapist, my services are covered by most extended health benefit plans. Depending on your specific plan, you can often claim sessions under "Occupational Therapy", "Counselling", or "Psychological Services". Receipts are provided after every session for easy reimbursement.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see an Occupational Therapist?
No, a doctor's referral is not required to book a private appointment in Alberta. You can reach out and book directly with me. However, please check with your insurance provider, as a few specific benefit plans may request a doctor's note for you to be reimbursed.
Does AHS cover walkers and home medical equipment? / How do I get equipment for my parent?
A crucial first step is a home safety assessment. During this in-home consult, I evaluate the environment and the individual's clinical needs. As an authorizer, I then help you navigate funding options - such as AADL (Alberta Aids to Daily Living), NIHB, Easter Seals, or the ALS Society - to obtain essential equipment like walkers, wheelchairs, bath chairs, and shower chairs to help you or your parent age in place safely.
Where do therapy sessions and assessments take place?
I offer flexible options to meet you where you are most comfortable. Mental health therapy can be conducted via secure virtual sessions (available across Alberta) or through walking meetings in West Edmonton. Physical health and Home Safety assessments are conducted directly in your home. I primarily serve Edmonton proper, Leduc, and St. Albert, and can occasionally accommodate visits to Sherwood Park. Please note: home visits include additional fees for travel time.
What should clients know about working with you?
I believe therapy shouldn't feel sterile or strictly clinical. With over a decade of experience, I bring a very real, grounded, and human approach to our sessions. I know that true healing happens when we look at your whole life - your environment, your mind, and your daily realities - not just a diagnosis. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to build a life that feels authentic, manageable, and functional for you.

Sessions & Assessments

Insurance & Direct Billing: Direct billing is possible for many insurance providers. As a dual-credentialed professional, sessions can be billed under "Occupational Therapy" or "Counselling Therapy" depending on your extended health benefits coverage.

Sliding-Scale Availability: I believe therapy should be accessible. A sliding-scale fee structure is available for those who need it - please bring this up during our free consult call so we can discuss options.

Equipment Funding: As an AADL Authorizer, an initial home assessment can serve as a starting point to explore and secure funding towards Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) equipment.

Cancellation Policy: Please provide at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. A late-notice cancellation fee may apply depending on the circumstances, at the clinician's discretion.
